The California Agricultural Teachers Association, or CATA, is the specialized teachers association specifically for Agricultural Educators in the State of California. This organization is responsible for the operations and doings of all things FFA in California. CATA, follows the same organizational structure as CA FFA. For every FFA section, there is a CATA section, and for every FFA region, there is a CATA region.
Just like FFA likes to recognize outstanding FFA members for their achievements, CATA also likes to recognize Agriculture Teachers and Programs that go above and beyond for their students. Awards very from Outstanding Pathway Teacher, Outstanding Agriculture Teacher (20+ years of service), Outstanding Mentor (10+ years of service), Outstanding Young Teacher (3-5 years of service), and Program award for Single Person Programs, 2-3 Person Programs, and 4+ Person Programs. These awards are awarded at the sectional level, regional level, and then again at the state level, each with its own level of competition. Applications are accepted at the beginning of each year through a nomination process, and winners are selected by Officers of CATA. This year, Lincoln FFA was honored as the Sierra-Buttes Section Outstanding 4+ Person Program! Additionally, our own Mr. Hess was awarded as the section's Outstanding Agriculture Teacher! As the agriculture teachers, we are incredibly proud of the Agriculture Program here at Lincoln, and are excited that we have been able to showcase the program as a model for others! Additionally, we are proud and honored that our teaching partner Mr. Hess was celebrated for the amazing work he does every day! We are incredibly proud of you Barret!
