SAE Projects In the Classroom
This year, Lincoln FFA has made significant changes to how SAE projects are tracked and graded as a part of the classroom grade. These changes are meant to help students and advisors progress through projects at a reasonable pace so that students are prepared to apply for degrees and awards. Additionally the new monthly grading rubrics are meant to help slowly grade students progress over time, instead of one grade at the end of each semester.

At the end of each month, students will be graded on their SAE projects and progress in AET. Each month has its own rubric, designed to keep students moving throughout their projects over time.
|
Each month, student's record books will be examined for specific things as spelled out in each rubric and receive a grade in schoology. The focus of each month shifts to different components outside of the student's SAE project.
Fall Semester FocusIn the Fall Semester, we focus on two main things. First, making sure every student has their account and profile set up. This is essential so that we can submit our rosters to National FFA and pay every student's membership so that they can participate in FFA activities.
The other focus is on starting and completing a student's foundational SAE project. Foundational Projects are starter projects designed to give students a look into the big picture of some component of the agriculture industry. Every ag class has its own Foundational Project designed to connect to that class's specific content. Every student will be expected to complete the Foundational Project for each of their ag classes, and they are different. So if a student is in Intro to Ag, Ag Bio, and Floral 1, they will complete 3 Foundational Projects, one for each class. This is to ensure each student has experience in tracking their time and activities in AET, as well as provides the entire program with better data that we submit to the State for additional funding. |
Spring Semester FocusIn the Spring Semester, the focus shifts away from account setup and Foundational Projects, and now pushes students to develop their own project outside of class. These projects are either Ownership based, Placement based, or Research based.
In addition to their project we also look at other things like entering FFA activities, FFA degrees, community service, and more. For more information on types of SAE projects, check out our "What are SAEs?" page |
