2022-2023 School Year
August
In order to start off our school year right we had our annual Ice Cream Social during the second week of school on the 31st for all of our Lincoln FFA members. We had vanilla ice cream with all different toppings such as chocolate sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles!

September
|
In September we had our 1st Chapter meeting with a carnival as our activity out at our school farm on the 21st. Within the same week on the 23rd we had two state officers, Melanie Orozco and Brian Kavanagh come and visit our chapter as well as give workshops to some of our classes. Next our 22-23 chapter officers attended COLC for two days the 24th and 25th to learn more about how to be a leader and how to improve our chapter. Lastly Mrs. Killingsworth took 24 of our Greenhands to the Greenhand Leadership Conference on the 28th where they learned more about FFA and how it works.

October
To start off October we had our monthly chapter meeting on the 19th in which we had a ping pong tournament with a prize of Yeti cup. To finish off our month Our principle Mrs. Hladun and our student teacher Mr. Deaton took 11 Lincoln FFA members to The National FFA Convention in Indianapolis Indiana the 26th-30th. Other than going to the convention they also went to places such as Church Hill Downs, Louisville Slugger Museum and an escape room! We also had a member of Lincoln FFA, Braden Miner attend National Convention as a National Delegate.

November

Starting off our November strong we had four teams on the 9th travel to River Valley High School to compete in Sierra Buttes Section FFA Opening and Closing Contest. Out of our four teams our officer team received 5th place overall. On the 16th we had our November Chapter Meeting where we awarded over 100 Greenhand degrees as well as crowned our Greenhand King and Queen. For the activity of after the business portion of the meeting we had a ton of different minute to win it games for members to play. Finishing off the Month of November we had our community wide 5k Turkey Trot on the 19th. Members of the Lincoln Community came out to our Lincoln High School Farm to trot through our beautiful wetlands. After the 5k Turkey Trot everyone got a Tri-tip sandwich lunch. November was very busy but a lot of fun for our members and community.

December
Ending off the first Semester we had our December Chapter meeting on the 15th! We had our members out at our school farm for a bonfire as well as awarding nine chapter degrees to members who include Garrit Brodie, Bailey Dick, Hudson Hants, Autumn LaMontagne, Dotty Lefty, Carrie Marino, Aiden Maul, Lilyana Petersen and Megan Sampson.

Starting of our new semester throughout the 13th and 14th of January Mr. Willhite took 22 of our Lincoln FFA members to MFE and ALA! With 14 attending ALA and 8 attending MFE. Here the learned important parts of leadership and how it can be used not only in our chapter but in their lives. Everyone also made a ton of new friends and memories that will last a lifetime! Then we finished off January with our monthly chapter meeting for all our members to attend on the 26th! After the business portion of our meeting we had a movie night with lots of popcorn and candy!

February
The first weekend the 4th in February Mr. Willhite took our Parli Pro team to Merced College for their first contest of the year! On the same day Mrs. Killingsworth and Mr. Deaton took our Vet Science team and Creed Speakers to Arbuckle Field Day! Then the next weekend on the 11th Mr. Willhite took our BIG and AET Farm Record teams to Chico to compete in the Chico State Field Day. The AET Farm Record team placed 8th high team! This was BIG's 1st contest of the year! On the 13th of February we had another contest this time our Sectional

Speaking Contest! We had 1 Creed Speaker and 4 Impromptu speakers! Lilyana Petersen placed 2nd and Megan Sampson Placed 3rd! Continuing on with our busy month we had 30 Idaho FFA members and their Ag teachers from Mackay FFA stop at our school farm on their way to the World Ag Expo to get a tour of our farm! Finally to end out the month of February we had so many different activities for FFA Week the 21st through 24th. Starting off on Tuesday before school our officer team made breakfast for all of our staff members at Lincoln High School. At lunch we had corn hole and ping pong games in the quad for everyone at school to enjoy as well as had a Hawaiian dress up day. Next on Wednesday at lunch we had Pie an officer in the face for $1 anyone was able to do this activity and our dress up day for school was blue and gold day. After school we had our February Chapter Meeting out at the farm where we had an Ag Olympics. Then on Thursday we had a tractor pull at lunch in the quad again for all of the Lincoln High School students to participate in. Thursday's dress up day was Dress like an Ag teacher day! Now to finish off the extremely busy month on Friday we had flannel dress up day and during lunch we had a staff kiss the goat as well as a BBQ of all of our Lincoln FFA Members.

Starting of another busy month strong with Gridley Field Day on the 4th! Mr. Hess and Mr. Willhite took the BIG team, Parli Pro team, Vet Science team and Impromptu speakers. All of our participants did amazing, Parli pro team placed 3rd overall high team, Kyra Story placed 1st high individual for Vet Science, Dotty Lefty Placed 5th high individual in impromptu and Lilyana Petersen placed 2nd high individual for Impromptu. The next event this month was the Regional Speaking Contest!

Our Parli Pro team as well as Lilyana Petersen and Megan Sampson with Impromptu made it to Regional's. Our Parli Pro team placed 3rd and Lilyana Petersen placed 5th high individual in Impromptu. Then it was off to State Conference in Ontario CA with Mr. Willhite and one of our school's counselors Mrs. Court! We had 14 members attend with Lincoln FFA and another member Braden Miner who attended as a sub committee chair. On the first day the 14 students with Mr. Willhite and Mrs. Court stopped at Cal Poly SLO to tour the college. Then on the second day they drove the rest of the way down to Ontario! Our delegates Lilyana Petersen and Megan Sampson attended to their committee work! As well as Braden Miner leading his own committee meeting. Day three was mainly a day of just sessions but we made sure to block out some time to go to top golf for a couple hours! Finally of day 4 Mr. Willhite surprised our members with a trip to Disneyland! Now last but not least on March 29th we had our Chapter meeting for all of our members to attend! As our activity we had a flag football game out on our school's Football Field in which everyone enjoyed!
April
To start on the 12th of April we hosted a farm open house! we do this every year so our members, families, and community members see what our farm looks like and all of the exciting things we have to offer. On April 26th we had our monthly chapter meeting! This one is a bit different than our normal ones because all of our members heard speeches from the candidates for 23-24 officers and then cast their votes. The event that was hosted was a farm open house for people of the Community to come out to the Lincoln High School farm to see what it is all about. April was a bit of a rest month for our chapter so our chapter meeting was the only event.

To begin May on the 5th we had the opportunity to host the Sierra Buttes Sectional meeting out at our school farm! This meeting was for the elections of our Sectional officer team! one of our members Lilyana Petersen made the 23-24 Sierra Buttes Sectional officer team! In May we also held our last chapter wide event which was our Awards Ceremony! On the 24th of May we recognized all of our degree recipients, star members, CDE and LDE members! We also were able to award our Honorary Chapter degree recipients who include, Mr. Swarts, Mrs. Court, And Mrs. Sliepen. This was a huge event for our members, parents and volunteers to attend and was a fantastic way to close out our 22-23 school year!

June
Our very last event for the community before the school year came to a close was on June 2nd which was our 2nd annual Commitment to Corduroy Benefit Dinner! This is a huge fundraiser we host for all members of the community! It is a fun night of dinner, games, and raffles! Lastly even though school is out our members don't stop working! From June 21st to the 25th some of our members were busy at our Placer County Fair caring for and showing their animals that they have been working with for the past 6 or more months! Members took home Grand champion titles in the species of sheep, goats, and steers!
